Members Of The New York Philharmonic: Wagner Die Meistersinger Overture and Parsifal Prelude (World's Greatest Music Records SR-11/12)

From Discogs concerning the World's Greatest Music record label: "This U.S. label was produced by an unknown manufacturer for Music Appreciation Products, Inc. Several label varieties were produced, starting in 1938..."

Mainspring Press published an article in 2017 identifying the various orchestras and conductors used by RCA Victor recording staff for these releases. A link to where the article can be found is https://78records.wordpress.com/2017/10/11/new-%E2%80%A2-the-worlds-greatest-music-discography-rca-victor-series-revised-expanded-by-john-bolig. Also see https://www.stokowski.org/Fritz_Reiner_Discography.htm. The conductor for this recording is Fritz Reiner- in case you were wondering.
Note that the "of Nurenberg" is omitted from this piece's listed title; this was likely because the Nazi party was highly associated with the German city of Nurenberg. With rising tensions and increasing unease with Nazi Germany, this record label decided to omit Nurenberg's reference in the heated political climate on the eve of the formal start of World War Two, which occurred roughly a year after these recordings sessions, in 1939. Sometimes history is told in what is not stated in published media as much as what is said. It is surprising to me that Wagner was selected at all to be published, but then again, to skip Wagner, one would need to skip all the other Germanic composers as well, which would have left the label very few famous classical composers the general public both recognized and were familiar with their works to choose from. Below are scans of the literature that accompanied the original album set, including another of Wagner's works, "Parsifal Prelude." I unfortunately only have one of the two records (I have SR-12, but not SR-13) that the latter work required in the days when 12" 78 rpm records were the best/only way to release pre-recorded classical music to the general record-buying public.
