The Thalia Chorus and Orchestra- The Merry Widow Operetta (Lehar) (Varsity Records 6981) LP Record

Varsity Records was yet another label in the Oberstien fold of budget labels endlessly reissuing content mostly culled from previously released Royale Records albums.

The early Varsity pressings are almost always noisy, and it makes one wonder if they really used vinyl, as they claimed on the jackets. Luckily Denoise noise filtering software allowed me to eliminate most of the excessive surface noise without ruining the recording's sound. This copy is thrashed, believe it or not, this is the best my audio restoration software could do without making the original audio sound like a '90s voice synthesizer generated it. There may be a cleaner-sounding version of it here: https://ligurianports.it/Lehar-The/Merry-Widow-Operetta/121955... However, I find the website a bit sketchy, given it is a Torrent-based file-sharing website that wants a credit card number before one can do anything. Maybe if I have a Visa gift card with a low amount of funds on it, I would give it a shot, but for now, I am going to pass; you can decide if it worth the risk.
